This Privacy Policy explains how My Location Tool handles information when you visit the website or use a location, map or coordinate feature. The site is designed so that you can browse general content without creating an account. Features that need your current position ask for browser permission at the moment you choose to use them.
1. Information you choose to provide
You may provide information when you contact us, use a text field to search for a place, or choose to share a result. Contact messages can include your email address and anything you decide to write. Please do not send passwords, financial information, identification numbers or precise personal location information unless it is genuinely necessary for the request you are making.
2. Current location and precise coordinates
Current-location features use the geolocation permission built into your browser or device. We do not receive your precise device location until you actively use a location feature and your browser grants permission. If you allow access, the browser can provide latitude, longitude, an estimated accuracy value and, depending on the device, optional sensor information such as altitude, heading or speed.
The location result is shown to you in the page. My Location Tool does not automatically publish your position, create a public location profile or send your result to another user. Copying, sharing or opening a point in another service happens only after you choose the relevant control.
3. Address lookup and reverse geocoding
A coordinate by itself does not contain a street address. When the site converts coordinates into a readable place or address, the latitude and longitude are sent over HTTPS to a same-site geocoding endpoint. That endpoint may use the configured third-party geocoding provider to return address information such as city, region, road, postal code and country.
To improve reliability and avoid repeatedly requesting the same point, successful geocoding responses may be cached on the server for up to 30 days. Cache keys are generated from rounded coordinates. A cached result can include the coordinates and address fields returned by the geocoding service. The cache is a technical performance feature; it is not intended to create a history of a person's movements.
4. Maps and third-party map services
Interactive maps can load map tiles from the map provider configured for the site. The provider may receive ordinary technical request information such as your IP address, browser headers, requested tile coordinates and time of request. The map provider processes that information under its own terms and privacy practices. The provider can be changed as the site's infrastructure changes.
5. Server logs, security and rate limiting
Like most websites, the hosting, firewall, security and performance systems may process technical data needed to deliver pages and protect the service. This can include IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, referring page, date and time, response status and diagnostic information. These records are used for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and service reliability.
API endpoints use rate limiting to reduce automated abuse. The application uses a one-way hash derived from the connecting IP address for its local rate-limit key rather than using the raw IP address as the rate-limit filename. Hosting or network providers may still keep their own standard server logs according to their own configuration and retention schedules.
6. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies
The public location tools do not require a user account. Essential technologies may still be used where they are necessary for security, administration or consent management. The private administration area uses a secure session mechanism for signed-in administrators.
If analytics, advertising or consent services are enabled, those services may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers or similar technologies as permitted by your choices and applicable law. Where a consent message is required, non-essential technologies should not be activated until the required choice has been collected.
7. Google AdSense and advertising
The site can be configured to display advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertising is not loaded by the site code unless the publisher enables it and supplies valid advertising settings. When Google advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as cookies, device identifiers, IP address, browser information and interactions with ads in order to deliver, measure, protect and, where permitted, personalize advertising.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google requires publishers serving personalized ads to use a Google-certified consent management platform that integrates with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The site's advertising controls are designed so ads can remain disabled until the publisher confirms the required consent setup is ready.
You can learn more about how Google uses information for advertising at Google's advertising technologies information. Available consent or privacy controls on the site should be used to manage advertising choices when those controls are displayed.
8. Precise location and advertising are separate actions
Granting browser geolocation permission is for the location feature you requested. The site should not treat that permission by itself as consent to use precise location for advertising personalization, analytics or attribution. If a separate use of precise location ever requires consent, it must be disclosed at the appropriate time and handled according to applicable law and platform requirements.
9. Why information is processed
Information is processed only for practical purposes connected with operating the service, such as showing the location result you requested, converting a point into an address, loading a map, protecting the site from abuse, diagnosing errors, responding to messages, measuring or improving service performance, and displaying advertising when advertising has been properly enabled.
10. Sharing with service providers
Information may be processed by companies that provide infrastructure needed to operate the website, such as hosting, content delivery, security, map, geocoding, analytics, consent-management or advertising providers. We do not describe a technical service request as a sale simply because a provider receives the data necessary to perform that service. Any provider's independent use of information is governed by its own terms, privacy policy and applicable law.
11. Data retention
Different information has different retention needs. Temporary geocoding cache entries may be kept for up to 30 days. Rate-limit and security data are kept only as needed for the technical purpose for which they were created, subject to the configuration of the hosting and security systems. Contact correspondence may be kept while a request is being handled and for a reasonable period afterward when needed for follow-up, records, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
12. Your choices and privacy rights
You can deny or revoke location permission in your browser or device settings. You can use many coordinate and map features without sharing your current device position. If a consent-management message is displayed, you can use it to make the available advertising and privacy choices.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent or the right to complain to a data-protection authority. Because the site does not require a public user account, we may not always be able to connect a technical record with you unless you provide enough information to identify the relevant record safely.
13. International processing
Internet services can involve providers operating in more than one country. When a third-party provider processes information internationally, its own legal safeguards and privacy terms apply. Where applicable law requires additional transfer safeguards, the responsible service provider or publisher must use an appropriate mechanism.
14. Children
The service is a general-purpose location utility and is not designed to knowingly build profiles of children. A child or young person should use precise-location features with a parent, guardian or other responsible adult where required by applicable law. If you believe personal information about a child has been submitted inappropriately, contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
15. Security
The site uses HTTPS and technical controls intended to reduce unauthorized access and common web risks. No website, network or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should avoid entering sensitive information that is not needed for the feature they are using.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when site features, service providers, advertising configuration or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of the page will be changed when a material revision is published. If a change requires a new consent choice, the relevant consent mechanism should request that choice again.
17. Contact
For privacy questions, corrections or requests concerning this website, email [email protected]. Please include enough detail to understand your request, but do not include unnecessary precise-location or identity information.
